Playing with Paint

This morning I moseyed on over to a new challenge blog called a la Carte to check out the challenges and I just fell in love with how they were set up. You are able to pick your own challenge from a MENU! You choose 3 out of 6. How cool is that?! Pretty darn cool, I thought! They give you 2 challenges a month on the 1st and the 15th and you have until the end of the month to get them done.

The first challenge for June was called Bonjour and on the menu was:

1. Use something French.
2. Use six embellishments in a row.
3. Use blue, yellow, and white.
4. Use zig zag (doodling, stitching, etc.).
5. Use three patterned papers.
6. Use one photo.

And this is what I came up with:

The Second Challenge for June was called A Man's Heart and on the menu was:

1. Use the word father or dad in your title or journaling.
2. Use plaid, argyle, paisley, or diagonal striped pattern paper.
3. Use white space.
4. Use a metal embellishment.
5. Use distressing.
6. Use mixed alphas. (You know sometimes a man just doesn't match.)

And this is what I did for challenge #2. That blank piece of paper is now a note from daddy to the kids for them to read while he is gone.

And lastly, just a little chipboard album I made for my niece Kiera. It's my first one I have ever made, so I am pretty proud of it :-) Now I just need to get it in the mail! Also I have to get started on ones for the grandparents! They are demanding them!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week :-)

Goodbye 26 - Hello 27

Hello wonderful people I love so much! I hope this Thursday night has found you in high spirits. This is the last night of my life that I will ever be 26 years old. In fact I have 1 hour until I turn 27 years old, or young, which ever way you prefer to look at it. Tonight I will look at it as young. What can I say, it's a good day :-) I have some amazing & exciting news that I am dying to share with you, but I am not quite sure yet as to when I can burst that bubble....BUT as soon as I know I will tell! And yes, it is scrapbook related! My friends think I have lost it with my scrapbooking obsession..err...passion. Tonight I do have 2 new LO's to share with you as well. Don't be shocked by one of them, well, if you know me then you won't truly be shocked, but the style is a little different is all.

This first LO is for an awesome Challenge Blog called Scrap the Boys
They have monthly challenges dedicated to the little men in your life. This month the challenge was pretty simple. You were to Scrap your boy and his favorite toy using only the colors red/black/+1 other color (I chose green).
This second LO is for a new Challenge Blog I just happened to come across called Gutter Girlz
This place is awesome! I call it my scrap therapy. Even the music they have playing on their player is just rockin' Definitely a place to check out.

An Awesome web Site

I recently made a new friend for life named April. She introduced me to this wonderful web site called The Retro Baby and immediately I thought of a few people. First was Ashley and second was Stephanie. The two of you need, no HAVE to check out this web site!! Yes, you too Crista!!! The clothes are just darling. Travis is going to kill me when he sees the bill, but OMGoodness, I swear I couldn't help myself! I mean, what 2 year old doesn't need a T shirt that says "Chillin' with my Gnomies" lol - for those of you who don't know, I have a huge fascination with gnomes :-)

Hello Beautiful people! It's a lovely day here in Washington which just adds to my fantabulous mood! I got a delightful suprise today when I was doing my morning blog hopping routine. I stopped in over at one of my favorite places JBS and noticed my LO 'Beauty' was featured on their blog! How cool is that? It just made my day!

There is a New Sketch up at 52 Sketches. . . 52 Weeks

This weeks sketch is just swesome. I love how simple and sweet it is.

Here is my take on it.

Journaling reads: "She holds my heart within her heart and she always will. She is my everything." I tried to keep this LO pretty simple because I just love this picture of my daughter.

And then sometimes you just do a LO because.....and that is exacly what this LO is! I was playing with tape here! I stole the hubbys duct tape....shhhh, he'll never know ;-) I did a really cool technique where I transfered my picture onto clear tape. Yeah, just playing around a bit, trying out new things!

I hope everyone has a beautiful, wonderful, & exciting week!

A Dreary Friday - But I have Orange!

So the past week here in Washington has been pretty dreary, and I am sure that is to be expected..... I mean it is the RAINY state after all, right?! Maybe I am just making that up, but it sure seems like it! But even though the weather this week has been bad, my week has been great! Koen, my dear sweet little man turned 2 years old, we are celebrating his birthday tonight so I am sure you will see pictures very soon :-) And not to mention I have discovered a new found love for the color orange and it all started with a little challenge from Dreamgirls. I had to create a LO using these requirements:

Prompt: We want to see action photos
Twists: Use either Pink and orange or blue and orange on your layouts
Technique: Doodling
This is what I came up with:

This LO is based of of the sketch below (in my previous post) #24 from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks This is my beautiful niece Heather'Lea. When I opened my mailbox yesterday and I saw this kit from Jenni Bowlin I instantly knew I wanted to use this picture. The flourishes I made myself. If you want to learn how to make them you can go here and there is a wonderful tutorial taught by the Fab Aphra Bolyer.

Sorry about the darkness of these pics, like I said...it's dark and dreary and this is the best I could get!! Boo!

As many of you may already know my husband is getting ready to deploy again and that is one of the main reasons I have started getting into scrapbooking so actively. He asked me to find something I loved, something I was passionate about and go for it. So I did. He asked me to try out for the DT at 52 Sketches...52 weeks so I did.It was my first and only time trying out for a DT. I am so lucky to have a husband who is so supportive of my passion and wants to make sure that I have something to keep me busy and "preoccupied" especially at a time like this. I am a very lucky girl who is soon to be a very lonely girl. I just wanted to say to all of those that are serving our country, and all of those that support those that serve.....THANK YOU!!!

I hope you dance

I would like to share a card I made! Yes a card! My first real one that I can actually be really proud of at least :-) I created this for Dreamgirls Challenge #29 Sketch it Card. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. And if you haven't checked out Dreamgirls blog then you really should because it's pretty awesome and the challenges are always rockin'.

And don't forget to come on over to
52 Sketches . . .52 Weeks
and comlpete this sketch:

Because this week there is a wonderful new sponser - scrapbookexpress who is giving a huge gift certificate to the weekly winner! A $50.00 GC...How Awesome is that?? And while you are there you should check out the forum. There are tons of fun tutorials that are just great for learning new things! And the cool thing is a new tutorial is added weekly! Go check it out!
Peace out Beautiful People!

Run Momma, the birds are starving!!

I guess I wasn't running fast enough because running right behind me were Kayla and Kyrsten trying to get that bread faster! Gotta love how those little minds work! And of course Momma had to do a LO about it :-) This LO was done off of 52 Sketches 52 Weeks sketch #23.
